Primarily built in 20, the Rivers Casino opened for business on August 9, 2009, and became the first official casino in the city of Pittsburgh. Barden held a groundbreaking ceremony for the casino (which was originally going to be named the Majestic Star Casino) on December 11, 2007, but financial troubles forced Barden to sell 75% of his interest in the casino to Holdings Acquisition Co.
